Man VS Machine: Is Employment Losing Against Innovation?

Before even machines were made, everyone had a job. Nowadays, a lot of companies wouldn’t need to hire a hand against a mechanical one. Wondering why we have less people with jobs compared to unemployed people? I just can’t help but wonder of the different economic situations around the world.

In the image above, you would see an old woman weaving using a loom the traditional way. This is how clothes were made using a basic weaving machine. The tool she is using paved the way towards the innovation of machines that would make tons of clothes in a day and other machines capable of mass production in a single go.

The picture above is an advanced weaving machine that does not require a person to operate it directly, except of course to program and check for maintenance. This is one of the reasons why lots of people don’t have jobs anymore. Before, a company would need manpower of a hundred to run production and to earn profit, now they would only need about 20 to a half of that number of people for the purpose of monitoring the machines or checking the machine’s finished product.

Machines have taken most of the menial jobs around. I am not saying innovation is bad but a lot of people have to work and earn for a living. Let’s just hope machines wouldn’t end up taking all our places in the job industry just like the picture below. I know it’s still a long, long, long way to go.

Let us all hope for the bright future for all of us. I just don’t want things to get worse than it is since we’re all running out of jobs. I certainly don’t want robots to take our jobs unless they provide money for us (ATMs are a different story). What do you think, are we losing our jobs to innovation?

Yes its the beginning where sci-fi becomes reality. In Terminator Skynet's creation was to remove the possibility of human error and slowness of human reaction time to guarantee fast, efficient response to enemy attack....and we all know what happens after....people think it will never happen but it's already happening.....we are becoming couch potatoes staring into another machine....eventually there will be no reason to leave your home it will all be taken care of by machines and virtual reality!!!!!

You're right, David. And I can foresee that obesity will become more rampant all around the world especially in well developed nations.
